The oldest pub in a Derbyshire market town which is believed to date back to the 1600s has been put up for sale.
The Horns, in Victoria Square, Ashbourne, has been put on the market with agents James A Baker. An asking price has not been made public and offers are invited.
According to local historians, The Horns is the oldest original pub in the town. It began as a small alehouse with an open courtyard to the rear. It later expanded into a neighbouring butcher’s shop - and the original walk-in meat storage cupboard can still be seen in one of the rooms.
According to the agent, the pub is predominantly “wet led”, which means its main focus is serving drinks - but it also has a restaurant area that can accommodate 28 diners.
Overall, The Horns offers 1,335 sq ft of space across three storeys. On the ground floor it has a cosy lounge/bar along with the restaurant area.
The mid-terraced property also has the added benefit of a dumb waiter leading from the ground to the first floor.
The first floor comprises a large, modern, commercial kitchen and preparation area, storage space and office.
Private accommodation is spread across the second floor with three double bedrooms, a private kitchen, a shower room and a separate bathroom with toilet.
