Mill House Pub Sale Linked to New Supermarket

A new Aldi supermarket is proposed for Chippenham following the sale of a pub in the town.

The sale of a 1.5-acre site on Methuen Park, which includes The Mill House pub, has been arranged by James A Baker. The land has been bought by Create Real Estate, an investment and development management company, which has agreed to sell the site to Aldi once planning permission for redevelopment has been obtained.
An application to redevelop the site into a supermarket has now been submitted to Wiltshire Council by Aldi and is expected to be decided later this summer.
Charlie Noad, surveyor at James A Baker, said: “The purchase of this 1.5 acre site and the supermarket development will be a great addition to this area of Chippenham and to the wider community.”
Ricky Humphreys, director of Create Real Estate, added: “We’re delighted to have completed this purchase. Based on the initial responses to a neighbourhood survey there’s strong support from local people for a supermarket, with 71% of respondents saying they back the proposal.”
